FAQ - Advantages of Cocopeat
Cocopeat provides an excellent environment for a variety of plants because it is versatile. The blend of cocopeat, coco fibres and coco chips can be adjusted to provide the best structure depending on the plant. Cocopeat allows air as well as nutrients and water to reach the root surface, which is essential for rapid and dense growth. The structure of the substrate is also ideal for holding water and nutrients, and releasing them to the plant over a prolonged period. Its excellent water holding capacity means that less water and fertilizer are wasted. Coir contains a high percentage of lignin, which provides a natural resistance to bacteria and disease, such as pythium. The lignin content also promotes the development of favourable microorganisms around the root zone.
These cocopeat characteristics have helped growers to produce healthier crops, and increase yield.
