Charlie is well-known by our growers and helps to steer the Botanicoir ship. Head of commercial operations, she has a crucial role in supporting our customers all over the world.
How would you describe your job role in one sentence?
Heading up the commercial side of the business, where our main focus is on building relationships and supporting our customers throughout all their interactions with Botanicoir.
How long have you worked for the company?
Around 10 and a half years
What is the best thing about your job?
The people; both internally and externally to Botanicoir. It is a great industry to work in and we are really lucky to have such great colleagues, customers and suppliers, whom, in many cases, I now consider my friends.
What does a typical day look like?
It varies massively but I tend to split my time between sales, customer service, logistics, HR, finance, and business development – a little bit of everything! These days there is much less travel and much more time on Zoom for me. I miss the face-to-face aspect, but being at home more fits in better with my life now.
How do you describe your job to your friends?
When meeting someone who’s not in the industry, I always start with: “Do you know what grow bags are?” Invariably, they ask if they are the sleeping bags you put babies in?! From there, I go on to explain that we are selling grow bags for crops, to commercial farmers all over the world, made with sustainable coir substrate.
What do you most look forward to contributing to the business as it grows?
Continuing to build on what we have already achieved. Looking after our loyal customer base, whilst looking for opportunities in the market to keep the business moving forwards.
What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
I don’t have any specific hobbies that I keep going back to but I love all kinds of sport and particularly extreme sports, or any kind of outdoor activity. That said, I am equally happy enjoying food and drink with friends and family.
